Blue Badge Parking in Blackpool
A Blue Badge gets you free parking at on-street meters and pay and display bays in Blackpool, and up to 3 hours free in some council car parks. But not every car park offers it, and private car parks set their own rules. This guide sets out which is which.

How the free 3 hours works
Blackpool Council offers a 3-hour free concession in some of its car parks. To use it:
- Display your Blue Badge with the expiry date showing, not the photograph
- Set your parking clock to the time you arrived and display it beside the badge
- If you'll stay longer than 3 hours, buy a pay and display ticket for your whole stay
Not every council car park offers the concession, so check the tariff or notice board when you arrive.
On-street parking
On the street, a Blue Badge gives you free use of parking meters and pay and display bays, and exemption from most time limits. Some bays have different rules at different times or on different days, so follow the signs rather than the road markings.
- The promenade: the area between Talbot Square, North Pier and New Bonny Street is a controlled zone where you can't park at any time, even with a badge.
- Resident permit zones: you can't park in residents' permit zones or permit bays.
- Double yellow lines: allowed in some resident schemes if you don't cause an obstruction, but not in the Whitegate Drive scheme.
Private car parks
The council's rules don't apply to private car parks, including the Pleasure Beach car parks, 98 Bond Street and Napier Bond Street. Check the signs at the entrance to see whether your badge gets you anything.
